The FT-11 is a remarkably sensitive and highly selective FM tuner. While its external design purposely expresses simplicity, its internal circuitry reflects state-of-the-art in analog FM tuner design. Audio output from the FT-11 is uncommonly transparent. As such it represents exceptional value to those whose true listening interests identify qualitatively with the source. In that regard, the FT-11 has already proven its credibility. Technically, the FT-11 is an extension of the same superb design technology that brought forth the widely acclaimed Dynalab FT-101. Therefore, it too takes full advantage of precision IF filtering and specially designed "group-delay" circuitry. Such a concentration results in proportional station separation, thus ensuring that all the original source information made available within the transmitted signal is accessible for full audio enjoyment. The FT-11's functionality will appeal to all FM enthusiasts. Its control functions are straightforward and, being the in "on" out "off" type, makes their status easy to read. This is in contrast with digital control systems that provide status in a sometimes-confusing array of digits and lights. Well illuminated, oversize panel meters provide both an accurate means of tuning to the center of the stereo signal and a continuous monitoring of incoming signal level.
WHY ANALOG? In contrast with the frequency synthesis method of tuning, analog is not dependent on a digital microprocessor chip to establish the tuner's receive frequency. With analog, tuning is accomplished using specially-selected, discrete components in the tuner's critical "front end." In the Dynalab design, these components are selected and matched so that a unique balance of sensitivity, selectivity and sound can be maintained.
However, the most significant advantage in analog is that is delivers control into the hands of the user. With the FT-11, infinite tuning is available in order to establish maximum stereo separation or to detune slightly in order to minimize on-frequency noise. With frequency synthesis tuners, this capability is offered usually in fixed, 50KHz steps. While FM stations themselves are rarely found to be transmitting outside the +-2KHz standard, FM station signals that are rebroadcast over cable may not be quite so precise.
